About Bridge The Gap Speech Language Services

Deborah Ekland M.S. CCC-SLP, Speech and Language Pathologist, Owner

Hi, I’m Debbie!

I’m so glad you’re here. I’m the founder of Bridge The Gap Speech Language Services, and my mission is to empower families with the tools, strategies, and support they need to help their children thrive. Whether it’s through in-home speech therapy, parent coaching, or baby bonding sessions, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Why I Do What I Do

My passion for speech therapy began with my own childhood experience. When I was just 3 or 4 years old, I had a fall that left me with a stutter. My parents sought help from a speech therapist, who taught me techniques like proper breathing and pacing. While I didn’t need long-term therapy, those early lessons stayed with me and helped me find my voice.

That experience shaped my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It gave me a deep understanding of how communication challenges can impact a child and their family—and it inspired me to dedicate my career to helping others overcome those challenges.

My Journey as an SLP (Speech Language Pathologist)

For over 17 years, I’ve worked as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, helping children and families in a variety of settings, including early intervention programs, public schools, and pediatric clinics. Along the way, I’ve developed a holistic, client-centered approach that focuses on the whole child—not just their speech and language skills.

As a one-woman-owned business, I take pride in offering personalized, flexible services that meet the unique needs of each family I work with. Whether it’s a short-term solution to bridge the gap or ongoing support, I’m here to help.

What Sets Bridge The Gap Apart

At Bridge The Gap, I believe in meeting families where they are—literally and figuratively. That’s why I offer in-home therapy for families in Brevard County, Florida, and virtual parent coaching for families across the state. My goal is to make therapy and support as accessible, effective, and stress-free as possible.

Here’s what makes my approach unique:

  • Personalized Care: Every family is different, and I tailor my services to meet your specific needs and goals.

  • Empathy & Understanding: As a mom myself, I know how overwhelming parenting can be. I’m here to support you, not just as a professional, but as someone who truly understands.

  • Flexibility: From in-home therapy to virtual coaching, I offer services that fit your schedule and lifestyle.

  • Transparency: I’m upfront about my recommendations and work with families to find solutions that are both effective and affordable.

A Little More About Me

When I’m not working with families, I’m spending time with my husband and daughter, who is my biggest cheerleader and the inspiration behind my logo. As a military family, we’ve moved eight times in 14 years, which has taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience—qualities I bring to my work every day.

I’m also passionate about supporting new moms. I know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming those early days of motherhood can be. That’s why I offer services like the Bundle of Joy package and parent coaching, to help moms feel confident, connected, and supported.

Let’s Bridge the Gap Together

Whether you’re looking for in-home speech therapy, virtual parent coaching, or resources for new parents, I’m here to help. My goal is to empower you with the tools and strategies you need to support your child’s development and build stronger connections as a family.
